training / coaching
A great way to be involved with your kids at Junior Surf is by being a coach or assisting the coaching team. The Junior squad is divided into groups which is based on child age and ability. Each group is assigned a coach for the season who will work in conjunction with the Junior Coordinator and be responsible for his/her team. Junior surf coaches are often parents of junior surf kids, and find their envolvement very rewarding. No previous lifeguard experience is necessary, just a willingness to help out and get invloved.
Our Junior surf coaches are trained to ensure they have the skills required applicable to the age group they are coaching. Some of the resources available are:
Work Place Fist Aid course (1 day)
Club in-house 'coach the coaches' sessions run by experienced senior coaches
Coaching handbooks / DVD and materials
Support by senior coaches
If you would like to become a junior coach or just help out from time to time, we would love your help. Contact our Junior Coordinator to discuss how you can be part of Junior Surf.
